New club event : This Sunday the 5th of July, the club will be transmitting from Mynydd Llanllwni mountain in Carmarthen on HF for fun, to see just how far a QTH we can get too. Hopefully starting around 10am local time to around 4pm. All contacts are welcome and we do have a club QSL card to send to any contact made.

QRP Contest Event Report: On Sunday the 14th June 2009, a mostly warm sunny day, the club took part in the Practical Wireless QRP contest with the callsign GW4YCT at a QTH location of Mynydd Llanllwni mountain, QRA locator = IO72WA. The location is the hills and mountains behind the town of Carmarthen. We where at an altitude of around 1,300 feet asl. The club’s progress last year came 64th out 92 entries with 209 points. We had made 19  confirmed QSO’s and worked 11 squares. The club also came top in the IO72 square. In this years QRP contest, the propagation did not allow us to reach France as last year, but contacts with Eire and North Wales where made. The QSO’s we made this year where 19 contacts over 9 squares. We thank you for the points.

Further news

8th June 2008 - The club took part in the Practical Wireless 2m QRP Contest. The shack was set up on Mynydd Llanllwni and according to the GPS system the site was at 1284 feet ASL. Using a four element 2m yagi we made 25 contacts in total. A number of contacts were made to Ireland, Cornwall and France. The conditions were excellent and there did seem to be a lift on with many contacts coming in at 59+. The weather was very warm and sunny and a good time was had by all.
