PW 144MHz 2009 competition results :-

Elgan also mentions the PSK31 type of data com’s, PSK31 was developed by Peter Martinez
G3PLX in december 1998, the efficiency of PSK31 mode, it has proven to be very popular
world wide. Great for hams that cannot erect any big antenna’s. Working PSK31 does
not require any need for large powers, ratings from 5 to 25 watts are suitable for
all bands, example working an amateur named Igor “4K5D” in Azerbaijan on 10 watts.
PSK31 can be worked using the sound card or a USB port type adaptor. Software for
is mode available are “Ham Radio Deluxe” or “Mix-
QRP Contest Event Report: On Sunday the 14th June 2009, a mostly warm sunny day, the club took part in the Practical Wireless QRP contest with the callsign GW4YCT at a QTH location of Mynydd Llanllwni mountain, QRA locator = IO72WA. The location is the hills and mountains behind the town of Carmarthen. We where at an altitude of around 1,300 feet asl. The club’s progress last year came 64th out 92 entries with 209 points. We had made 19 confirmed QSO’s and worked 11 squares. The club also came top in the IO72 square. In this years QRP contest, the propagation did not allow us to reach France as last year, but contacts with Eire and North Wales where made. The QSO’s we made this year where 19 contacts over 9 squares. We thank you for the points.

A new 2M Gateway has been set up in Penboyr, West Wales. The Gateway MB7IWW should offer coverage out towards Cardigan and elevated parts of North Wales.
The MB7xxx range of callsigns in the UK denotes unattended operation, the Gateway
operated in Penboyr is MB7IWW-
To use the link is very straight forward, simply tune you Radio to 145.2375 MHz, add
a 94.8Hz “CTCSS” tone and you are ready to go.
The system gives an audio ident every three minutes so if you can hear that there is a very good chance that the system can hear you along with everyone else connected to the system.
DTMF functions are available as shown below.

The PW 2m contest results are now available and are as follows
Out of 92 entries our club came 64th with 209 points. The CARS club made 19 QSOs confirmed and worked 11 squares. The club came top in the IO72 square.
The RSGB have recently issued a downloadable PDF file called "Ethics and Operating Procedures for the Radio Amateur" Edition 2, July 2008.
This is well worth downloading and if you click here you will be able to obtain the file.
The club meetings are the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month.
Currently instruction on the intermediate exam is being given plus morse practice.
The meetings may include the building of projects by members and any visitors with a helpful guided instruction for their individual use.
Every first Tuesday of each month is a normal club night and on air evening or an open forum. Come for a general chat and/or to solve problems you may have with your amateur radio station.
Every third Tuesday of each month is an evening generally devoted to talks or demonstrations by club members.
